EARLYBIRDS
The Earlybirds (an adult Sunday School class) will resume its studies on Sunday, September 20th, at 9 a.m. in the Education Room.  In the past the group has read a Book of the Bible in its entirety and, at other times, it has studied the lectionary readings for that Sunday.  Both have lead to good discussions among the participants.
The Earlybirds are eager to have additional people join their discussions.  So come on the 20th with your thoughts about the topics you’d like to discuss.  If you’d like to just talk about the group and its studies, contact Helen Hopkins, Caroline Jones, Carol Ann Jones or Shirley Kudalsky.

NEW THURSDAY NIGHT CLASS BEGINS OCTOBER 1
Have you ever wondered how the pieces of the New Testament fit together?  For example, what is a “gospel” and why are there four of them?  When were they written, and why don’t they always agree about the details of Jesus’ life?  And then there are the “epistles” or letters.  Why were they written, and to whom?  Why were these letters included in the Bible while others were not?  And what is the Revelation to John about?  Does it foretell the end of the world, or is it about something else entirely?
Beginning Thursday evening, October 1, Pastor Mary Jane will be teaching a New Testament Survey class that will address these questions and more.  Beginning with the Gospel according to Matthew, we will proceed through the New Testament, exploring how these texts came to be written, how they relate to one another, and what they say about humankind and our relationship to God.  The Bible will be our textbook.
Mark your calendar now, and feel free to invite a friend.

EARLYBIRDS
Each Sunday morning at 9 a.m., a group of adults gathers to discuss the week’s lectionary (Bible readings) and how they may be applied to daily life. No previous Bible education is needed.
Informal discussion – no lectures. Ask your questions; you may get an answer.
Enjoy a cup of coffee with other adults while you wait for your youngster in Sunday school or prior to choir preparation or worship.  Class will end at 9:45 so that you can don your choir robe, pick up your child, or prepare for the worship service.
Discussion is facilitated by Helen Hopkins.  For more info. see Helen in church or call her at 343-2802.
