Thursday nights, at 7 pm, Pastor Mary Jane leads a new Bible Study – a survey of the New Testament. All are welcome to participate. We’ll have the coffee on!
FREEDOM FRIDAY
At 7:00 Friday, November 20, PUPC friends will gather for supper at Rossi’s, 150 S. Main Street, Archibald. All are welcome to participate, and it’s a great opportunity to invite a friend.
COUPLES GROUP
On Saturday, November 14, the PUPC Couples Group will be going to see Don’t Say Goodbye, I’m Not Leaving at the Providence Playhouse, followed by a snack at Fratelli’s. The play starts at 8:00, but we need to be there no later than 7:45 to claim our group tickets. Let Carol Moore (346-3771) know if you plan to attend.
Also, on Saturday, December 19, the group will have its Christmas dinner and white elephant gift exchange at George and Mary Ann Minner’s. Mark your calendar for that evening, and watch for more details.
BOOKWORMS/MISSION WORK GROUP
Bookworms and Mission Work Group will have a combined meeting on Wednesday, November 11 at 3 p.m. The book selection for November is “Dreaming Water” by Gail Tsukiyama.
You may remember that the Bookworms read one of her previous novels “The Samuri’s Garden” and loved it.
This novel details a short span in the life of Cate and Hana, a mother and daughter coping with the onslaught of Werner’s Syndrome. This syndrome, which ages a person abnormally, makes Hana look and feel 80 rather than 38. Yet she yearns for all the good things that life will never bring her, and Cate, recovering from the sudden death of her husband, cares lovingly for Hana. When Hana’s best friend, Laura, arrives with her teenaged daughters to visit, Hana has a chance to reconnect with this troubled woman after a long absence. When Laura’s loud, energetic and troubled world collides with Hana and Cate’s daily routine, the story really begins.
The Mission Work Group continues to make afghans and baby items for St. Joseph’s Baby Pantry. These items will be dedicated at the early service on Christmas Eve. You may wish to knit and/or crochet items at home for this project and present them for dedication at this service.
Both groups would love to have you join them for discussion, fellowship, and service.
