BOOKWORMS
Although the Bookworm group will not meet during July and August, here’s a suggestion for your summer reading. It is “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. It is a heart-warming story of an author looking for her next book subject. She finds it in a letter from a man she’s never met, a native of Guernsey, the British island occupied by the Germans during World War II.
The further exchange of letters, telegrams and notes between the author and residents of Guernsey gives a portrayal of life during the occupation. The book is filled with characters you grow and love and wish you had known. Try it; we think you’ll Like it!
